Brookings may become the 2nd largest city in South Dakota on Saturday October 14, 2023 during the 111th Annual Hobo Day celebration.

Starting Monday October 9 and leading up to gameday the campus of South Dakota State University along with the city of Brookings will enjoy several events. There will be Bum-A-Meal, where SDSU students share a meal with community members, Rally at the Rails, and Bumfire.

On Hobo Day Saturday, the fun starts with the parade at 9:30 AM. The Hobo Day parade takes place on Medary Avenue and goes to downtown Brookings. There will be local high school bands joining the SDSU marching band and various student organizations in the parade.

Each year the ‘Biggest One-Day Event in the Dakotas’ attracts thousands to the small South Dakota city north of Sioux Falls.

The Jackrabbits will host University of Northern Iowa Panthers. Kickoff is 2:00 PM at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. SDSU has compiled a 62-40-5 record in Hobo Day games. with the Jackrabbits facing 23 different opponents.

 

The football game isn't quite the end. Head to Volstorff Ballroom at 7:-00 PM for Hobo Night Live games, prizes, and a comedy show beginning at 8:30 PM.
