I was in Vermillion to see the University of South Dakota's production of Spring Awakening. (Which was amazing by the way.)

My friend and I decided to make a day of it and have some grub before the show and a drink after.

For the grub, we went to Cafe Brule. It was my first time eating there and I was surprised how busy it was. The place was popping, which is a good sign that the food is amazing. And it was.

I ordered the Chicken Apple Panini. I was originally going to have a side dish of veggies, but I was told I HAD to try the Potatoes Brule. And, twist my arm, (not really), I obliged.

OMG, you guys! These potatoes are covered in a delicious creamy sauce and cheese! And then baked. And the cheese gets all crusty and delicious on top! You can add meat to it and basically make it a meal. I highly suggest.

My sandwich was delicious as well. But the potatoes were so good, you guys.

My friend got a half size portion of the Pot Roast Sandwich. The half size was huge. Seriously ginormous.

Cafe Brule is a bakery as well so we had to have some sort of baked good or pastry deliciousness. So we split an order of beignets! Beignets are like donuts, but not quite. But they are 100% scrumptious.

After the show, we decided to go for a drink. I said I wanted to go to whichever bar I would have gone to if I had gone to USD and my friend said, "Then we're going to Carey's."

It was much bigger inside than I expected. Also, they had a real life, operational, telephone booth. I kid you not.

It was a great day spent in Vermillion. And I would totally drive that 60 miles just for Potatoes Brule again.
