The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for parts of South Dakota including Sioux Falls, in effect from 6:00 PM Tuesday (March 3) until 6:00 AM Wednesday. (Full Text of the warning below).

Winds out of the north at 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

Combined with the snow that is expected to fall Tuesday evening, the strong could create whiteout conditions on the road. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines making power outages possible. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for Sioux Falls Tuesday Night

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Iowa, southwest
  Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, and east central and southeast
  South Dakota.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
  Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially
  for high profile vehicles. Near whiteout to whiteout conditions
  are expected in falling snow.
