USA Wrestling's women's freestyle national championships were held this past weekend in Spokane Washington, with the Cadet team trials the U23 national championships. The Des Moines Register reports that several collegiate and high school wrestlers from Iowa competed with a Hawkeye taking home a national title.

That Hawkeye wrestler is senior Felicity Taylor. She tore through her weight class on Friday and Saturday on her way to a national title. The Register reports that Taylor went 5-0 at 116 pounds, and outscored her five opponents 49-0. In Saturday's best-of-three final, Taylor only needed two matches. She topped Colorado's Estrella Dorado Marin 13-0 in the first match and 10-0 in the second.

The Register reports that this is Taylor's third U23 national title. She also won in 2019 and in 2022. Another wrestler from the state of Iowa also won a title in the U23 class. Iowa Wesleyan wrestler Adaugo Nwachukwu dominated at 136 pounds going 4-0 on her way to a national title. Both Taylor and Nwachukwu are likely to be on the U23 world team after their wins this weekend, according to the Register.

Two wrestlers from the Iowa high school ranks also placed over the weekend at the Cadet World team trials. The Register reports that freshman Katie Biscoglia of Racoon River Northwest finished fourth at 94.6 pounds. Fellow freshman Skylar Slade from Southeast Polk finished fourth at 143 pounds.
