Every June 1, Soles4Souls asks everyone in the world to kick off their heels and go barefoot for the day.

If you're not comfortable with that sort of thing, then how about donating some new or used shoes instead?

Since 2004, the non-profit organization has used the first of June as a day to raise awareness for those in the world who go about their everyday lives without shoes.

The hope is to inspire people to donate new and used shoes to victims of natural disasters and also the less fortunate.

The movement was born following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

Since that time over 19-million pairs of shoes have been donated worldwide.

I'm willing to bet we all have one or two pairs of shoes in the closet we don't wear for one reason or another.

How about today we make a pact? You donate your unused shoes and I'll donate mine.
