Gas prices are ticking up at the end of 2019, but they aren't expected to stay that way.

The average price for a gallon of gas in South Dakota is $2.48. That is the same as a week ago, and a penny more than a month ago. One year ago the average price of gas was only $2.22.

“The majority of states saw gas prices increase in the last week – some by as much as a nickel to a dime, but any spikes in gas prices that motorists are seeing will be short-lived,” said Marilyn Buskohl, AAA spokesperson. “AAA expects gas prices to decrease following the holidays.”

As of this writing, the average price for a gallon of gas in Sioux Falls is $2.40 per gallon according to GasBuddy.com. That is just a penny higher than two weeks ago. The cheapest gas in Sioux Falls is at Cenex on North Cliff, Costco, and Sam's Club at $2.24 per gallon.
