Nick + Joe Jonas React to Demi Lovato’s Reported Overdose
The Jonas brothers are showing their support following Demi Lovato's reported overdose.
"Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now," tweeted Joe, who briefly dated Lovato in 2010 and co-starred with her in Disney's Camp Rock movies. "She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are Demi."
Less than an hour later, Nick — one of Lovato's oldest friends in the industry and her business partner in Safehouse Records — also took to Twitter to send some well wishes.
"Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi," he wrote. "All of us love her and need to pray for her to get well. She is a fighter."
Kevin, too, sent a short message. "Sending my prayers and thoughts to @ddlovato and her family right now," he tweeted.
Lovato was on tour with the Jonas brothers in 2010 when she infamously punched a backup dancer, ultimately leading her to enter rehab for the first time. In a 2016 interview with Billboard, she opened up about the toll it took on she and Nick's longstanding friendship.
"I distanced myself as I was getting involved with self-destructive things," Lovato explained. "After treatment, I had to have some time sober before I wasn't embarrassed to talk to him. Nick says I sent text messages, but I don't remember shit. The first time we saw each other since that tour was my [2012 Los Angeles] concert at The Greek. We caught up right before the show, then performed. It was an emotional reunion — I got one of my best friends back."
Lovato was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday (July 24) for a reported overdose after being found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home. A rep for the singer told USA Today that she was "awake" and with family, but did not share any further details.
