I can hear all those middle-aged men 'groaning about now.' I hear you, you 'smokers!'  Many people around the world are going to do a little imbibing this evening and perhaps enjoy a bit of Corned Beef for dinner tonight in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

My wife brought the roast home the other day, we thawed it out, and it's in the crockpot working up a magical smell about right now.

When I was a kid, I remember turning up my nose when it came to corned beef. It was probably the cabbage that came along with it. Somewhere along the way, like onions and mustard and about 1000 other foods I came to have a special appreciation for this waste of a cut on a beef. Actually, it's not a waste, it's the brisket, and it has an awesome unique flavor. I like it so much, that when I go to a restaurant I usually order the Rueben Sandwich.  You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the Rueben they put in front of you.

So, how about you. Got the crockpot fired up?  If so, you can think of me before you put it on the table.

I'm not much into green beer, but I have developed a hankering for a 'spot of Irish Whiskey' Jameson Black Barrel it is, on the menu tonight with a bit of Corned Beef and Cabbage.

Thank you for sharing this story with your friends who might be making their brisket The Right Way, on a Smoker. In the meantime, I'll be pulling it out of the Crock-Pot later tonight!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!
