Back in 2019, police discovered the body of a three-year-old girl inside of a Brookings home. The autopsy that was performed on the girl confirmed that her cause of death was malnourishment and dehydration.

Fayant was not solely responsible for the death of the three-year-old girl, however.

29-year-old Robert Price, Jr., was also charged with the child’s death in 2019.

However, Fayant was the girl’s aunt and was responsible for caring for her at the time of the child's death.

Investigators stated that they deprived the girl of both food and water and kept her in a small space "in a filthy home."

The case against Price is still currently pending as of September 24, 2021.
