Body Found in Mississippi River in Minnesota

Winona, MN (KROC-AM News)- Investigators are working to identify a body that was found in the Mississippi River near Winona, Minnesota Tuesday (July 5) afternoon.
Winona County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Mueller said river goers spotted the body east of Winona near Mosquito Island. Mueller said members from the Winona County Dive and Rescue Team, Boat Patrol and Winona Fire Department recovered the body of an adult female.
Mueller says the body was sent in for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Muller says the body was found in the jurisdiction of the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation.
