If you’ve ever been to an NFL football game, you know how powerful the experience is; especially if it’s your very first game. A Brookings mom made sure her son’s first game and ninth birthday were one he’ll never forget, as she surprised him with tickets to the Minnesota Vikings game on Thursday, December 1.

Donavin, who turns nine today and is a lifelong Vikings fan, had no idea he would be seeing his favorite football team in person at the new U.S. Bank Stadium. He's always hoped to see the team and their impressive stadium someday, but figured tickets were too expensive.

Hoping to make his birthday a memorable one, Donavin’s mother Gina and her father, Marv, began planning the surprise for her son a few months ago. In September Gina got tickets to the game, but she made sure Donavin had no idea that he would be attending, right until to game time.

On Thursday, Gina and Marv told Donavin that he was going to Minneapolis to visit Marv’s sister in the hospital. Never did it cross Donavin’s mind that he would end up in the same building as his favorite football players.

The crew pulled into the parking lot across from the stadium and an unknowing Donavin, dressed head to toe in Vikings gear, was in for the surprise of a lifetime. However, I’ll let the video do the talking.

Congrats Donavin, and Happy 9th Birthday from everyone at Results Radio, Townsquare Media.
