Calling all artists, Sioux Falls is looking to beautify its downtown city storm drains.

That's right, Sioux Falls is back riding the creativity train once again.

This time, to partner with the already colorful ArtBox gallery, which features a collection of 26 different utility boxes that are wrapped with vinyl artwork from area artists, Sioux Falls city officials are on the hunt for 6 creative artists who would like to assist the city with its Storm Inlet Painting Project.

Dakota News Now is reporting this latest project is an effort to provide a unique canvas for public art, as well as an opportunity to highlight the need to protect our water systems.

Who is eligible to participate?

Both individuals and organizations are eligible to submit their design proposals to the city. However, each proposal must include a form of artwork that includes a message supporting water quality initiatives. The city is also requesting that each interested artist also propose an inlet location they would prefer to paint.

The 6 artists chosen will win cash!

You read that correctly if the city elects to choose your design proposal, the artist will receive $200.00 for their work.

Here's how to submit an artwork proposal...

According to Dakota News Now, the City of Sioux Falls and the Visual Arts Commission are accepting design proposals from artists from now until 5 PM on Friday, (May 6). After that time, all the various designs will be reviewed and the winning artists will be chosen.

Once the winners have been selected, the city will invite all 6 artists chosen to grab their brushes and get to work beautifying the storm drains in downtown Sioux Falls from June 6-10th (weather permitting.)

People Say They Hate These 7 Things About Sioux Falls the Most

In the last few years, I've had the opportunity to live in another state after living in Sioux Falls for a decade. Then late last year I moved back to the SooFoo, and I am super happy to have returned.

Sioux Falls has just about everything I like. It's big enough to have lots of opportunities for work and recreation.

Being on the western edge of the 'Midwest' and the eastern edge of the 'Western Frontier' we've got a nice balance of the individualistic pioneer spirit and a strong urban 'We're in this together' attitude.

But, of course, not everything is perfect. People have complaints. On the social-network Reddit, people have even listed their complaints about Sioux Falls. Specifically, the things that hate about living here.
