‘The Divergent Series: Allegiant’ Trailer: Things Get Weird Beyond the Wall
In case you didn’t know (Shailene Woodley only mentions it twice), the next installment of The Divergent Series is heading beyond the wall, to see what lies outside the confines of Chicago. A new trailer for Allegiant promises that, if nothing else, things are going to get real weird, and real CGI-heavy when these kids diverge (get it?!) from their fortified city.
Woodley’s Tris and her pals take off, leaving Chicago behind and heading over the walls to go on what looks like a drug trip sequence from a Seth Rogen comedy. Seriously, what is happening here, exactly? Tris is burning her clothes, Four is showering all dramatically, and…wait…who exactly has been maintaining Tris’ highlights given all the post-apocalyptic action that’s been keeping her busy? Is one of the Divergent also skilled in cosmetology?
Anyway, here’s the official synopsis, which explains things a bit better than that trailer:
The third installment of the blockbuster Divergent series franchise, ALLEGIANT takes Tris [Shailene Woodley] and Four [Theo James] into a new world, far more dangerous than ever before.
After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.
Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and Jeff Daniels co-star in Allegiant, which hits theaters on March 18.
