Alanis Morissette Review: Thank You So Much for Panties
My wife and I attended the Alanis Morissette concert at the Hard Rock in Sioux City. My impressions of things and stuff from the evening:
Alanis was great. She still sounds just like she did on Jagged Little Pill.
Of her hits "Hand in My Pocket" was my favorite. Two acoustic guitars played and didn't automatically tell you what the song was. Then she started singing the opening line and the crowd went nuts.
Alanis also doesn't have much of a repertoire for talking to the audience. She mostly said the same three phrases. "Thank you so much," "Thank you!" and "You look beautiful." She said a few other words but mostly said this. On the last song before the encore she did deviate greatly by saying "We f***ed up" when she appeared to miss her cue to start singing. It was a weird guitar part and finding the spot would have been hard.
"Ironic" was a giant karaoke jam with the crowd. She barely sang the opening verse. She also had a playfully fun change of one of the lyrics. Toward the end she sang "It's like meeting the man of my dreams and then meeting his beautiful husband." Pretty funny line, times have changed since 1995.
Overall I really enjoyed the show. It was great.
It was my first time at the Hard Rock. Really cool joint. I'm hoping to see OAR there in November. Only bad thing is Iowa allows smoking in casinos. First time experiencing that in a long time.
I also found a pair of sassy panties in the parking lot outside the Hard Rock. If I could know the story of what happened I would love it.
