I have some cool t-shirts that I want to wear again, so I need to get in shape. Oh yea, and for the future and health and to live at least a hundred more years. I’m on a quest to not be fat when I turn 40 next year. Read my intro post here and last week's post here.
Here we are, week five, and well, I'll just say it. It's been a horrible week. I was able to exercise four days this week, so there's that. But, eating and the other stuff have been a little bit of a disaster.
Last weekend I had to travel to Nebraska for some family stuff. That means I ate a bunch of junk. Not as much as I would have in the old days, I didn't have any pop, stuck to water and coffee. But, I did gorge myself on grandma brand home cooking. A trip like that also upsets my routine and this whole thing is still too new, so I have a hard time getting back on track.
The smoking is still a problem. And I know that I'm not trying hard enough on this front. Each time I do it, it fuels the anxiety, which drives the addiction and I end up in a depression cycle. Admittedly I know how to better deal with the cycles nowadays. But I still have to wrestle this thing down, and maybe I'm finally angry enough about it to do it.
Some good news, I'm having an increasingly difficult time keeping my pants pulled up. My belt is on it's last belt hole thingy and I can't walk more than a few steps without my pants (who am I kidding? My shorts) almost ending up around around my knees. It makes me feel good, but look stupid. Me at 39 cannot pull off the baggy pants look.
The t-shirt this time is my blue Gauntlet shirt. It says "Wizard is about to die, needs food badly." Gauntlet was an old cabinet video game which was, in 1980-something, the greatest game I'd ever played. It was a standard scrolling game, but you got to choose the person you played as and the game talked to you. Both pretty exciting features in the olden days. The people that worked at the Safeway where the game was hated it because it talked. And I'm guessing because of the kids that kept asking for quarters.

Anyways, if you were playing as the wizard, when your were about to die that phrase would show up and you had to find a ham to eat. I don't really know why the shirt makes me laugh so much, but when I found it I had to have it.
