Have you ever worried that the elevator you were riding in would malfunction and you would get stuck? Or have you ever thought about what you would do if the elevator suddenly started falling? I bet you never concerned yourself with what to do if the elevator you were in started going up at an alarming rate.

Jose Acevedo was in an elevator in Santiago, Chile on Saturday that started going up quickly. It covered 31 floors in 15 seconds. In the video you can see him frantically trying to get it to stop by hitting the buttons but nothing worked. It finally stopped when it crashed into the roof of the building. Making it even scarier was that the doors were stuck open so that he could see the floors flying by.

Emergency crews were able to rescue Jose but he may never walk again due to injuries to his legs and spine. He is still hospitalized.
