I have always been an animal lover.  I had a dog until I was 19 and most recently, my mom took in a stray cat who I am madly in love with.  Both animals were strays and I'm so happy we were able to give them a home and show them love.  For at least a couple of years, there's been a stray cat behind the Results Radio building living in the trees.  I would see her every once in awhile and want to give her food.  I didn't, because there are several other animals out in the trees and down by the river that we don't want to feed and I was afraid we'd have some nasty critters up by the building.

A few months ago, I noticed our station cat was going to be a mama.  I would see her walking around, probably looking for food.  The other day one of the announcers mentioned he had seen the cat carrying a dead rabbit and she wasn't pregnant anymore.

My heart sank.  I so wanted to help her and her kitties.  I didn't know where she was hiding them and I was afraid the mean animals down by the water would eat them.

Today, as I was leaving work, Animal  Control was outside our building.  I asked the lady if she was there for the cat.  She had already trapped 3 kittens and the mama.  There was one more kitty she had to trap.  I asked her where she was going to take them and she said she would take them all to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.  Quite honestly, it didn't sound too good for the mama cat.  The mama has been wild for a long time and would not be a good house cat.  She'll be with her babies for a few days at the Humane Society.

I am pleading with you - if you live on a farm and would like to have another cat, please, please, please, call the Sioux Falls Humane Society and tell them you have a home for the stray mama.  The kittens will be adopted in no time.  They are so freakin' adorable!  But, the mama's days are numbered.  This mama cat was able to find food and a nice home (by the garbage bins at Alpha Graphics) and she was taking good care of her babies.  We can't let this mama cat die.  This is just breaking my heart.  She needs a good farm home.

Please call the Sioux Falls Humane Society and let them know you're interested in adopting the mama cat that was found by Alpha Graphics and Results Radio.  I don't know what their procedure is, but I would hope that if there is interest in adopting the mama cat, they would do it.

The Sioux Falls Humane Society's phone number is 605-338-4441.

Here's a picture of three of the kittens.  They are SO cute!!  They were really scared and kept moving towards the back of the cage.  The mama cat was in another cage and I wasn't able to get a picture of her.  The mama looked pretty scared and helpless.
