What Would It Be Like to Live in a Geodesic Dome and Not Go Outside?
You know the old golf dome behind Shopko on 41st Street in Sioux Falls? It’s now the Avera Sports Dome.
What would you think of making that your home with a group of people for an extend stay and not be able to go outside?
A group of NASA-funded researchers is preparing to enter an isolated geodesic dome on a remote Hawaii volcano for an eight-month stay. Very similar to the one pictured above which is in Omaha at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
The purpose is to study human behavior in long-term space exploration, including a planned voyage to Mars.
The team will have no physical contact with the outside world.
