Do you like driving barefoot? When I was new to driving I loved taking off my sandals and driving with my bare feet in the summer months. I think back then I believed it helped me feel the pedals and I knew how much or how little I was pushing down on them. It probably didn't help I wasn't very tall when I was 15 and got my permit so anything I could do to feel the pedals better I was willing to give it a shot.

Earlier this month we learned that eating while driving in Iowa is 100% legal. I've eaten food and driven so much in my life that I have a list of which foods are easiest and least messy to eat while driving. Anything with a spoon or a bowl is a big no. Way too much going on at the same time. Anything that has a lot of lettuce in it is also a no for me. All the lettuce does is make a mess and fall into your lap. I could go on and on about this topic but what about driving while barefoot? Are we allowed to do this in Iowa?

Not only is it completely legal to drive barefoot in Iowa, but there also isn't a single state that has any law prohibiting driving barefoot, according to Metro Mile. Not only is it perfectly legal to drive while barefoot, but if you ever do find yourself in an accident and you don't have any footwear, there aren't extra penalties for it either.

Now just because it's legal doesn't make it the safest or best option. Your feet can get sweaty and slip around on the pedals and shoes are always going to allow for a better grip. Plus if you're ever in heavy traffic it can eventually become painful going back and forth from the gas to the brake pedal. Also, if it's been a while since you've cleaned out your car, we probably shouldn't get started on how dirty your feet can get if there's no barrier between your foot and the pedals, and just having your feet sitting on your floor matt. YUCK!

Hilarious Iowa DOT Signs

Anyone else share a sense of humor with a state's Department of Transportation? Just me? Well, every Monday the Iowa Department of Transportation puts up a sometimes hilarious, sometimes straightforward message on their road signs across the state. This is called "message Monday" and Iowa DOT tries to entertain and educate drivers through these signs. Here are just a few of our favorites.
