Volcano Eruption Caught on Video, Sound Takes 13 Seconds to Get to Camera
Mount Tavurvur, a volcano in Papua New Guinea, erupted on August 29. This video caught it erupting and also demonstrated a little science. It took about 13 seconds to hear the explosion.
I don't know if my math is exactly right, but with the sea level speed of sound at 761.2 mph, the volcano was about 2.75 miles from the camera.
