The greatest TV show in the history of TVs and shows, Mystery Science Theater 3000, continues to deliver nearly two decades after it's cancellation.

The recent run of political debates always makes me think of this host segment from MST3K's sixth season. Before the day's experiment , San Francisco International, Mike Nelson moderated a political debate between his cohorts Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. The topic of the debate: politics.

The two debaters imminently launch into throwing barbs that ignore their own previous statements as much as their opponent's.

Crow: Yes, but do you not agree that the whole concept of a shampoo and conditioner in one is absurd?

Tom: Let me answer that, sir, with a question: Have you or have you not ever tubed the Apple River with Sally Jesse Raphael?

Crow: Dill is a good spice! I will not have it maligned!

Tom: Why, you've never even met Mamie Eisenhower, have you! Well, have you?!

Crow: Are you saying that you do ride in a surrey with a fringe on top?

This is a frighteningly accurate depiction of what is becoming of our political process.
