‘Step Up’ Going Digital
Larry Busacca
Anna Webber
The Step Up franchise started in 2006. The first movie starred a relatively unknown Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan as dancers from opposite sides of the tracks.
Little did we know then, that Step Up would spawn four sequels!
I love a good dance movie and most of the Step Ups hold up. Plus, they usually have great soundtracks.
But now, the movie franchise is being made into a show for YouTube Red. YouTube Red is an online subscription service so for $10 a month you can check out the new show.
The new show will be called "Step Up: High Water" and it will be set in a performing arts school in Atlanta, GA.
The new series is being produced by original producer Adam Shankman as well as previous stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum (they actually married after meeting on the set. How cute?).
The new series has some star power in front of the camera as well. Ne-Yo, Naya Rivera, formerly of "Glee", and Faizon Love are set to star.
The show is set to debut in the fall, but no exact premiere date has been released.
