South Dakota Gas Prices Finally Flatten Out
The steady climb of prices at the pump has finally pumped its breaks.
The average price for a gallon of unleaded in South Dakota fell ever so slightly over the last week, falling 0.7 cents to $2.777. That is still about 10 cents higher than a month ago but only 7 cents higher than a year ago. How easily we forget the price was roughly the same just a year ago.
“While gasoline demand remains robust, gasoline inventories built for the first time since early February, which was a surprise, and contributed toward the national average only increasing by a penny” said Marilyn Buskohl, AAA spokesperson. “Today’s average is just eight cents cheaper than the highest pump price of 2019, which was set going into Memorial Day.”
In the immediate Sioux Falls area gas is a bit less expensive than the rest of the state. As of this writing the average price is $2.68 per gallon according to GasBuddy.com. The cheapest gas is at Costco at $2.40 and Sam's at $2.45. Most places are selling gas for between $2.62 and $2.71.
