Sioux Falls Rent vs. Top US Cities: How Much You’ll Pay
We're coming up on the first of the month, and that means it's time to pay rent again.
Sioux Falls Rent Compared to National Averages
As much as it might suck, and as much as rents in Sioux Falls seem to have skyrocketed over the last five years, it's nothing compared to the rest of the country. In fact, according to a survey by LawnLove.com, Sioux Falls is the 196th most expensive metro area in the country.
Minneapolis isn’t too bad either, ranked 178, and Des Moines is 194. The average rent in Sioux Falls for a two-bedroom apartment is $1168, according to Apartments.com.
How Major Cities Stack Up
According to the data, LawnLove.com says that the most expensive places to live in the United States are the places you'd guess. In and around New York City, parts of California, and Florida.
A one-bedroom apartment in NYC will run you around $4,046, according to Apartments.com. In LA, you can get a one-bedroom for about half that. But that's still like $2,181. In Florida, that one-bed is about $1,695.
In the high-cost areas like that, people are spending nearly half their income on rent.
