In an attempt to give students heading to college an idea of the kind of environment they're entering, Wallet Hub has done an extensive comparison of over 400 cities and towns.

When all the numbers and statistics were done being crunched, Sioux Falls came in 37th out of 151 midsize cities and 114 overall out of 400 cities.

The three basic categories they examined all the cities and towns in were: A) Wallet Friendliness, B) Social Environment, C) Academic & Economic Opportunities.

Wallet friendliness was comprised of looking at the cost of an education in each area, also the cost of housing, food, and entertainment options, as well as student loan debt per person.

Social Environment considered numerous factors including, student gender balance, crime rates, number of single people, nightlife options, and the number of breweries, cafes, food trucks, shopping centers, and sports clubs.

Academic & Economic Opportunities looked at the quality of a higher education in those cities, entrepreneurial activity, unemployment & job growth rates, college graduate earning potential, and more.
