Sioux Falls Police Say Parked Truck Causes $200K in Damage
Wednesday night at around 5:00 PM the brakes failed on a parked semi truck and trailer, which veered down 37th Street, crashing into six unoccupied cars, pushing one of them into the Good Samaritan building at the bottom of the hill.
Authorities were dispatched to the 1500 block W. 38th St at The Good Samaritan Society. The truck and trailer were parked on 37th Street as a support vehicle for a crane doing maintenance work on the Kirkeby-Over Stadium on the Augustana University Campus.
There were no injuries reported and the total damage is estimated at over $200,000. The operator of the semi was cited for safeguarding an unattended vehicle.
