
Sioux Falls Man Allegedly Drives Drunk, Strikes Police Car
Police say a Sioux Falls man drove drunk, ran through a flashing red light and struck a squad car early Wednesday morning.
Lieutenant Matt Burns says it happened around 12:45 a.m. at 8th and Minnesota as the officer drove south on Minnesota Avenue:
Burns says the 50-year-old officer, a 19-year veteran of the force, was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He says the other driver, 21-year-old Samuel James Landberg of Sioux Falls, was arrested for DWI-first offense, failure to maintain financial responsibility and failure to obey a flashing signal.
Damage to the police car was estimated at $5,000, and damage to Landberg's car was estimated at $8,000.
