
Sioux Falls House Fire May Have Been Sparked by Lightning Early Monday
Some nice late-spring thunderstorms rolled through Sioux Falls Sunday night. No severe weather warnings were issued, there was just rain, thunder, and lightning.
However, the lightning may have sparked a fire on the far east side of the city.
Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 1:00 AM Monday (May 20) officials responded to a house fire that was possibly caused by a lightning strike.
First responders found the home at E Quartzite Dr. and S. Overlund Pass in Sioux Falls, SD it was engulfed in flames.

Everyone in the house had made it out and there weren't any injuries reported.
In addition to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office; Split Rock Fire Department, Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue, Brandon Fire and Rescue, Valley Springs Fire Department, Harrisburg Fire and Rescue, Patient Care EMS, and Minnehaha County Emergency Management all responded to the scene.
The fire is under investigation.
