Friday, September 5, 2025

• First Free Friday at the Washington Pavilion: Explore the Kirby Science Discovery Center and Visual Arts Center at no cost. Over 100 amazing exhibits and eight art galleries full of fun and beauty. Check in at the box office to gain admission.

Saturday, September 6, 2025

• Sidewalk Arts Festival: Downtown Sioux Falls from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. This is a free outdoor event with more than 230 vendors featuring fine art, folk art, and craft artisans, as well as nonprofit organizations and food vendors. There will be activities for kids, live entertainment, a beer garden, and more. It's a fundraiser for the Washington Pavilion.

• 34^th Annual Presidents Bowl: The annual day of football when five of Sioux Falls' high school football teams take on one another. It's an all-day gameday at Howard Wood Field, near the PREMIERE Center in northern Sioux Falls (MAP). It's a fundraising event for the Booster Clubs of Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt High Schools in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

  • Harrisburg vs Washington - Kickoff:  3:00 PM
  • Jefferson vs Roosevelt  - Kickoff: 6:00 PM
• Brandon Valley Pigskin Classic: The Brandon Valley Athletic Booster Club’s largest fundraiser is at the Brandon Valley High School, which includes a 5K Run/Walk, a golf tournament, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, cheer camp, and a dodgeball tourney. Money from the event goes towards scholarships, snacks, meals, and equipment for Brandon Valley athletes.

• Sioux Falls American Legion Post 15 all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast: from 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance at 1600 W. Russell Street in Sioux Falls. Serving cakes, sausages, eggs, coffee, and orange drink. Open to the public. $8 for those 11 years and over. $2 for those 10 and under.
• Homesteader Day Celebration: Free admission from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Beaver Creek Nature Area southeast of Brandon. Enjoy the sights and sounds of pioneer life. The historical Samuelson cabin will be open for visitors to see and experience. There will also be pioneer agriculture demonstrations, a blacksmith, Dutch oven cooking, rope making, candle dipping, music, and more.
