Sioux Falls Canaries Will Face a New Opponent Next Year
Over halfway through the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, the
Sioux Falls Canaries are hanging in there only 5-1/2 games out of first place as of July 31st. But next season the league is going to be more competitive than ever with the announcement of a expansion team coming.
The Chicago Dogs will begin league play in 2018. According to American Association of Independent Professional Baseball ”the team’s home games will be played in the $60 million, 6,300-seat new stadium currently under construction in Rosemont, Illinois."
The teams logo looks like, well, a hot dog of course and colors and stars of the Chicago flag. The new team will join the Sioux Falls Canaries, Wichita Wingnuts, Winnipeg Goldeyes, Texas Airhogs, Fargo Redhawks, Kansas City T-Bones, Gary Southshore Railcats, Sioux City Explorers, Cleburne Railroaders, Salina Stockade, St Paul Saints and the Lincoln Saltdogs.
