They are already picked as the preseason top team in the Summit League and now one of their star players is getting some national recognition as well.

SDSU women's basketball star Myah Selland has landed on a national trophy list as the season begins.

Myah Selland has been added to the Naismith Trophy list which recognizes the top college basketball player in the country.

Here is the complete release from the South Dakota State Athletic Department on the big news for Myah Selland.

South Dakota State's Myah Selland was one of 50 players named to the preseason watch list for the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Friday. The award recognizes the top college basketball player in the country

"We have selected an elite group of athletes for the 2023 Jersey Mike's Women's Naismith Trophy watch list this year, and we look forward to keeping an eye on these stellar players and adding additional excellent players as the season progresses," said Eric Oberman, executive director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Selland, back for her sixth season as a Jackrabbit, averaged 14.2 points to lead the team a season ago and added 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists on average, which ranked second. She led the Summit League with a 2.1 assist/turnover ratio and shot 51.1 percent from the field and 46.6 percent from the 3-point line. The 2022 WNIT MVP put up double figures in 22 contests last season. Selland was an All-Summit League First Team pick in 2021-22. She was also named to the Becky Hammon and Cheryl Miller preseason watch lists in October. Selland was a member of the Naismith preseason watch list last season as well.

The Naismith watch list also includes last year's Jersey Mike's college player of the year, South Carolina's Aliyah Boston. The senior forward can follow in the footsteps of her head coach, Dawn Staley, who won the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy in consecutive years while she was at Virginia in the early 1990s. Boston would be the first repeat winner of this award since UConn's Breanna Stewart won it in 2015 and 2016.  Joining Boston on the list is Stanford senior Haley Jones, a 2022 award finalist and recipient of the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy High School Girls' Player of the Year in 2019.

The award's midseason 30 team will be announced in early January, and then the competition will be narrowed down to 10 national semifinalists in early March. Following those results, four finalists will be named on March 21, 2023, and the winner of the 2023 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy for Women's Player of the Year will be announced on March 29, 2023.

New Sculptures Added In Sioux Falls For Sculpture Walk - May 2021

The Sioux Falls SculptureWalk is known to be the largest outdoor exhibit that features sculptures year-round on Phillips Avenue and throughout other parts of the city. Well over 800 sculptures have been on display throughout the history of the Sioux Falls SculptureWalk.
If you've been walking around Downtown Sioux Falls the last couple of days, you've probably have noticed the latest editions to this year's Sioux Falls SculptureWalk. My friend Miranda and I sure enjoyed seeing the new sculptures!
Every year, we walk around to admire the new artwork in the city. It was just a coincidence we were in town when some new sculptures were unveiled!
Check out these exciting new additions to Downtown Sioux Falls!
