The third time was the charm as the Reno Bighorns finally solved the Sioux Falls Skyforce 129-116 Wednesday night at Reno Events Center.

Over the past eleven days, these two teams have met three times in three different cities. Sioux Falls (20-7) played strong in the second half in the first two encounters to rally for wins.

At home, Reno (11-16) used a blistering third quarter to build a lead they would not relinquish. Of 21 shots taken by the Bighorns in that pivotal stanza from the floor, 15 of them connected (71 percent).

The Bighorns’ Lamar Patterson imposed his will on the way to 41 points and his backcourt mate Isaiah Cousins added 27 points with 11 assists. On assignment from Sacramento Georgios Papagiannis put together a monster effort of 23 points and 15 rebounds.

On the Skyforce side, Briante Weber brought the most firepower with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists plus a mind-blowing put back dunk. Two others scored twenty plus with Keith Benson’s 24 tallies and 8 rebounds while Patrick Miller continued his hot streak with 23 points and 11 assists.

These two teams will have their final meeting this season in the middle of March. Closer at hand will be a Skyforce trip to Los Angeles to face the D-Fenders tonight (January 26) and Reno awaits the Rio Grande Valley arrival tomorrow (January 27).
