The cartoon series that earned two Emmy awards during its 78-episode run, and even spawned a feature film, is getting a reboot!

"The Powerpuff Girls" is set to come back to Cartoon Network in 2016. The reboot will include a new television series and a full licensing program that will roll out across all regions. The show is still one of Cartoon Network’s top-grossing brands to date, with more than $2.5 billion in retail sales.

Chief content officer of the Cartoon Network says:

"The original Powerpuff Girls was a franchise phenomenon for Cartoon Network, paving the way for a new generation of innovative storytellers and enthusiastic fans worldwide,”

“We are calling these girls back into action based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice and Chemical X."
