Pizza Inn in Sioux Falls Closes Its Doors
For pizza out, it's no longer going to be Pizza Inn in Sioux Falls.
The pizza restaurant that has been a staple in the community for nearly 50 years closed its only remaining Sioux Falls location at 2208 East 10th Street on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
People like Karl Heidemann, a North Carolina native, grew up with Pizza Inn back home. Since moving to Sioux Falls, he has met his neighbors and their family at Pizza Inn every Saturday afternoon for years.
Now, he’ll be without his favorite pizza spot to go to in Sioux Falls.
Heidemann, like many other area residents believe that Pizza Inn was a big part of the Sioux Falls community puzzle. Now a missing piece with the restaurant closing its doors for good.
According to Heidemann, "I think it just stands to show how central to a community one restaurant can be to have great food for that long that's appreciated by the entire community.”
The owners of the Pizza Inn estimate they've served up over more than a half-million pizza pies throughout the years.
The old Pizza Inn location is soon set to be torn down and replaced by a new Popeye's Louisiana Chicken that is scheduled to break ground in February.
