Pitbull, Robin Thicke, Travis Barker, Sofia Vergara and Joe Perry End 2016 Grammy Awards With a Bang
Pitbull, Robin Thicke, rocker Joe Perry and drummer Travis Barker are easily the strangest combination of artists to hit the stage at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
They joined forces to sing a medley last night (Feb. 15) and Sofia Vergara even came out to dance to "El Taxi," a song off his Dale album. Thicke, Perry and Barker showed up for "Bad Man," Pit's newest single. Producer and songwriter Ricky Reed also performed on guitar. Reed produced Pitbull’s new single “Bad Man."
The story of the night is Kendrick Lamar, who opened the show by winning Rap Album of the Year (To Pimp a Butterfly) and went into the ceremony with awards for Best Rap Song ("Alright"), Best Rap Performance ("Alright"), and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("These Walls"). He was up for Album of the Year, with the whole rap world rooting for him to win. However, Taylor Swift took home the honor.
He performed "Alright" and "The Blacker the Berry," and both performances, pegged as "controversial" according to host LL Cool J before the show, proved to be electrifying. Images from the impending performance show prison imagery, tribal paint, and a huge outline of Africa with "Compton" written in it.
Common, Big Sean and French Montana were all spotted at the Grammys at one point, as well as DJ Khaled, who was giving away major keys all over the red carpet. The most touching part of the red carpet was, by far, the appearance of A$AP Yams' mother, brought to the show by Lord Pretty Flacko a.k.a. A$AP Rocky.
