It was a night of rivalries and a night of firsts as the O'Gorman Knights and Roosevelt Rough Riders met for the first basketball games inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

In the first game of the night, the O'Gorman Lady Knights outscored the Rough Riders 13-4 in the 4th quarter to come back and win 55-50. O'Gorman is now 16-0 on the year and were led by Jessica Mieras' 21 points. Mieras also notched her 1,000th career point at O'Gorman.

The Rough Riders had three players in double figures, which makes this loss even more difficult for them. This is a young team that finally seems to be turning the corner, and this is the right time for them to do so. As the Districts and Regions approach, the Rough Riders can build off this loss. Brooke Luitjens led Roosevelt with 11, while Jamie Spicer and Tagyn Larson both added ten. The loss drops Roosevelt to 5-10 on the year.

It is not known if the baskets at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center shrunk between games, but the shots were not falling as easily in the boys game. The nightcap featured a highly anticipated rematch between the Knights and Riders after the two teams separated by one point just a few weeks ago.

Roosevelt struggled to get shots through the net in a 45-34 loss. As a team, the Rough Riders (10-6) shot 32% from the field and had only five players score any form of points. The common theme of each Roosevelt loss has been the shot percentage. Tristan Teichmeier led the Riders with 11 points and ten rebounds, while Pierce Mriden added eight points.

O'Gorman faired a bit better from the field shooting 46%. Braxton Elliott scored 17 points in the first half, but only two in the second for 19 total. Ben Lauer had an impressive showing with eight points, and he limited Roosevelt's Tyler Van Voorst to just five points. The Knights were impressive the entire game as they outscored the Riders in each quarter. O'Gorman is now 13-4 and in full control of District 1.

The High School Basketball Showcase at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center continues on Friday afternoon and evening with four games. Washington and Rapid City Central will meet in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00. Lincoln and Rapid City Stevens will have a night doubleheader beginning at 6:00 with coverage on ESPN 99.1
