Officer Signs off After 30 Years on the Force
After more than 30 years on the force, one officer is hanging up his badge for retirement. Sarasota Police Department Officer Andre Jenkins made his final radio call before his retirement.
In the video, he begins to tear up for taking a few moments to collect himself before saying, "This will be my last transmission over the radio.” After his final transmission officers replied wishing him well on his retirement as his partner records the entire video which was later posted on the departments Facebook page.
Officer Jenkins isn't the only officer to retire this year. Officer Dave Shelton signed off after a 39-year career on the Kelso Police Department in Washington.
After 27 years Officer Buc Rogers from the Idaho Falls Police Department radioed in for the last time.
Trooper Mark Gilberg of the Arizona Department of Public Safety started on the force March 11, 1981. 37 years later, he signs off one last time.
