A new study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety shows getting one to two hours less sleep a night can double your chance of being involved in a car crash.

Only getting four to five hours of sleep a night quadruples your risk of you being involved in a car accident.

An earlier study from the Governor's Highway Safety Administration estimates more than 80-million sleep deprived Americans hit the road every day.

And in terms of money, it's estimated drowsy driving costs the country more than $100-billion a year in things like medical expenses and lost productivity.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration even goes as far as comparing the problem of drowsy driving in this country to that of driving drunk.
