Tornados tore through parts of Nebraska Friday afternoon (4/26/24) causing damage and knocking out power. The line of storms was dropping funnels across eastern Nebraska as it crossed into Iowa.

CNN reports a tornado ripped through the edge of Lincoln, NE causing damage. Elkhorn Nebraska, on the west edge of Omaha, seems to have suffered serious damage from a different twister. 

Other tornadoes were reported near the airport in Omaha, and Waverly, Nebraska where a train was blown off the tracks.

Interstate 80 in Nebraska was right in the middle of things too, Friday:

Thousands of people in the Omaha area were without power. Tornado damage is reportedly very serious in some places. KETV reported that buildings and homes in Wahoo, NE were leveled.

The thing about tornadoes is that they are very destructive and very rare. Most people probably won’t even see an actual twister in their life. But if they do, it can mean devastation.

We don’t need to be at battle stations all spring and summer and freak out every time it gets cloudy.

We do need to think, prep, and pay attention.
