My brother and I grew up bowling on leagues and for our High School team. We both are former Iowa High School State Bowling Champions. Bowling is one of the only things we are decent at.

He invited me to a fun tournament in Omaha so I went.

I hadn't been bowling since September or October so I wasn't sure how it was going to go. It helped that the tournament was 9 Pin No Tap, which for you non-bowlers means that when you roll a 9 it counts as a strike.

I was convinced to participate when I was told there would be nacho bar! Not only would there be nachos before the tournament, but also a dinner afterwards! The winners would receive cash prizes. There were also a couples raffles. One raffle prize was a cooler full of liquor. The other raffle was a strike pot. You buy your raffle tickets and then if/when they draw your number, if you got a 'real' strike on your next turn, you would win the money in the pot. My number never got called. Bummer. However, my dad won the cooler full of liquor!

My brother and I were the second place team and I won women's high score! We won $80 for coming in second and I got a bottle of Crown Royal Apple for top women's prize. We missed first place by 15 pins! Gosh, darn it.

All in all, it was a decent weekend.
