In the age of streaming services, it's getting harder for network and cable TV to keep up.

People love binge watching and streaming shows can get away with pretty much everything because they aren't actually on TV.

However, I found this new show on WGN America, of all places, that I am obsessed with!

The show is called Underground and it is about the Underground Railroad. There are storylines from the slaves, slave hunters, the plantation owners, and a couple who decides to become a stop on the Underground Railroad.

I think the fourth episode just aired last week and it is so good! I'm totally captivated. The last episode made me cry. I also love how it's filmed and the choice of music is very interesting. In the first episode, modern music is used, I believe it's a Kanye West song. I like the juxtaposition of the new and old.

The cast includes Christopher Meloni, whom you may recognize from Law & Order: SVU, Mykelti Williamson, whom you may recognize as Bubba from Forrest Gump, Jurnee Smollet-Bell, whom you may recognize from True Blood or Full House back in the day. Plus, a whole bunch of people I don't recognize, but are awesome!

Also, the show is executive produced by John Legend.

Underground is obviously based in something that is a very true part of American History, but it is definitely full of suspense, love, family drama, and all the great workings of a TV show.

So far the show totally keeps you guessing. Some characters you think are good right away, aren't and some characters you despise from the beginning, surprise you and do great things.

Underground is on Wednesday nights at 9 on WGN America. And to get you caught up you can watch full episodes HERE.
