Minneapolis Is Getting a Major League Quidditch Team
Harry Potter fans, I have some great news for you! A Major League Quidditch team is coming to Minneapolis. According to Fox9.com, Major League Quidditch in December announced the creation of a franchise expansion team in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The team will hold tryouts in April and will start league competition in June. The league is composed of 15 teams, 13 in the U.S. and 2 in Canada with each team playing nine games in the regular season.
If you are not familiar with the sport, players run around with poles instead of brooms between their legs while they try to score with a volleyball "quaffle," avoid dodgeball "bludgers" and catch a person acting as the "golden snitch."
Luke Zak, founder of the University of Minnesota's Quidditch team, who called it a "full contact, mixed-gender sport on brooms." So if you think you got what it takes to make the team, head on up to the cities this spring for tryouts!
