Just when I was trying to get over my Mary Poppins withdrawal, Disney has to go and make a huge announcement.

It's been rumored for awhile that Disney was doing a sequel to Mary Poppins, and I had read back in February that Emily Blunt was rumored to be Mary.

But yesterday, Disney made it officially official. A sequel to Mary Poppins is happening with Mary Poppins played by Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda (from Hamilton fame) will be playing Jack, a lamplighter.

Mary sure does have a lot of friends with blue collar jobs. First, Bert was a chimney sweep and now Jack is a lamplighter.

The sequel will follow Mary as she revisits Jane and Michael in the future. Michael now has kids of his own.

The movie is set for release Christmas of 2018.

Mary Poppins was my jam. Loved the movie and now I did the stage show and fell in love with that so I'm skeptical of this sequel. Can Emily Blunt really be nearly as good as Julie Andrews? Can Lin-Manuel Miranda bring the same charm and humor to Jack that Dick Van Dyke brought to Bert?

Will I go see the movie when it comes out? Yes. Will I be hesitant and judgey the whole time? Yes.
