A Sioux Empire Favorite: Lewis Drug Awards $5,000 Love Story Winner
It all began in 1942, when Jesse Lewis and George Fredrickson joined forces to establish the first self-service drugstore in South Dakota. They called it Lewis Drug, and the company has expanded over the last 83 years to 61 Lewis Drugs in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota.
A Sioux Empire Staple Since 1942
Lewis stores are more than just a pharmacy. They are the neighborhood spot where you can get what you need, from home goods to groceries. They really are one of the best parts of living in the Sioux Empire.

The I Love Lewis Story Contest
In December, Lewis Drug asked customers to share their Lewis Love Stories. You don't serve Sioux Falls for more than eight decades without becoming a part of people's lives. They wanted to hear why you love Lewis. And to sweeten the pot, they put up $5000 to win.
They got so many heartwarming stories about the place Lewis has in the heart of the Sioux Empire. One of those stories got a 27-year-old nurse from Huron the big money.
Congratulations to Cassidy Riggs, the I Love Lewis Story $5,000 Grand Prize Winner.
Cassidy says she remembers shopping at Lewis for at least 20 years. Adding that she thinks of Lewis as her hometown pharmacy because they know her by name. Congratulations are also in order for all the $50 Lewis gift card winners who were chosen randomly throughout the event.
Lewis wants to thank the thousands of Lewis customers who took the time to share their I Love Lewis Story.
Why Sioux Falls Still Loves Lewis Drug
In 2024, Ben and Partty from 97.3 KKRC radio in Sioux Falls asked listeners to share their Lewis memories to celebrate this longtime, "one-stop" for folks in Sioux Falls. And, they have a LOT of them!
Believe it or not, these are just a few of the memories people shared with us:
