Ketchup No Longer King Of The Condiments
Nothing goes better with a burger and fries than ketchup, right?
But according to a new study, it's not your favorite food topping.
Mayonnaise is the new #1 - by more than a two to one margin.
Market research finds Americans spend over $2 billion a year on mayonnaise.
In comparison, ketchup sales per year are only $800 million.
Coming in a close 3rd is soy sauce, barbecue sauce is 4th, hot sauce was a lukewarm 5th, and mustard barely cuts it at #6.
So what about salsa?
Researchers say it's not a condiment - it's a dip.
If it was factored in, however, it would surpass ketchup at #2 - but still trail mayo by quite a wide margin.
