Jared Allen Signs One Day Contract and Retires as a Minnesota Viking
Jared Allen gave us a memorable retirement video when he "rode off into the sunset" but we didn't know what team he would officially retire with.
Now we do.
Allen signed a one day contract with the Vikings on Thursday and retired where he said he felt his heart was.
According to ESPN.com, during a conference call,he said "In my heart, when it was all said and done, I knew I wanted to retire as a Viking," Allen went on to say "I've always kept in contact with [general manager] Rick [Spielman] and [vice president of football operations] Rob [Brzezinski]. It was one of those mutual things."
In six seasons with the Vikes, Allen was a five time Pro Bowler and made four All-Pro teams. During his tenure in Minnesota, he posted 83.5 sacks with the team and ranks third in team history in sacks.
