Minnesota Snowstorm: Check Out the Latest Snowfall Totals Across the Region

It's tough to complain about the snow that fell across the region on Sunday because our winter has been unusually mild, with very little snow. However, this recent snowstorm brought several inches across the upper Midwest, with some areas receiving nearly a foot of fresh snow.

Unfortunately, the snowy conditions led to hazardous roads, resulting in numerous crashes, including one fatality. Several schools opted to delay classes this morning.

According to KROC News, from midnight on Sunday until 4:30 in that afternoon, the State Patrol responded to 217 traffic crashes. Aside from the tragic incident in Burnsville, there was another crash resulting in serious injuries. There were also 116 instances of vehicles spinning out or veering off the road, along with 5 incidents involving jackknifed semi-trucks.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport recorded 8.2 inches of snowfall. This led to numerous flight delays on Sunday, but air travel has mostly returned to normal today.

In the Twin Cities, snow totals ranged between 6 to 8 inches.

Lutsen, Minnetonka, and Woodbury all got between 7.5-8 inches.

Duluth reported 8 inches of snow, while West Duluth received 10 inches. Their forecast predicts even more snowfall, with 3 to 5 inches expected today, another 3 to 5 inches tonight, and 1 to 3 inches tomorrow.

St. Cloud received 7 inches of snow, with an additional inch expected today and the possibility of 1 to 3 inches tonight.

Several of these cities made it onto the list of the coldest cities in America, as shown below, including Rochester, which saw a total snowfall of 5.5 inches.

The heaviest snowfall occurred in Wisconsin, with Wausau reporting 11 inches and Eau Claire receiving 10 inches.
