Rochester Woman Charged in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot Enters Guilty Plea
Washington D.C. (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester woman has entered a guilty plea in connection with her actions during the January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol breach.
That’s according to a news release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. The FBI arrested her on charges in connection to the riot in Rochester on March 8, 2021.
The news release says 41-year-old Victoria Charity White pleaded guilty to one count of civil disorder and aiding and abetting on Thursday. Court documents say video captured the day of the riot shows White moving about the Capitol grounds with a mob and arguing with rioters who were attempting to break glass at an entrance into the building.
She is then seen with a group of rioters, who used a flag pole to force a large flagpole at a tunnel entryway that was being guarded by Metropolitan Police Officers, the news release says. White was also accused of pushing her way towards the entrance and hoisting a rioter who then assaulted law enforcement over top of the crowd.
Moments later, she is spotted grabbing for an officer standing on a ledge in the area of the lower West Terrace entrance. The officers pushed her back with a riot shield and baton, the news release says.
White grabbed one of the shields and blocked the baton with her hand. She was then escorted out of the building, the news release says.
White was originally charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, violent and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, impeding or attempting to impede law enforcement officers performing official duties, and obstruction of justice/Congress.
White is scheduled to be sentenced for the conviction in November. She is one of over 1,106 people who have been arrested in connection to the riot.
