Minneapolis Mass Shooting Now Quadruple Homicide, Arrest Made
A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says one of the two people who initially survived a shooting in the 1500 block of East 25th Street on Tuesday died at a hospital.
He’s described as a 28-year-old man. He was one of five people shot and is the fourth person to die in the mass shooting, which police described as targeted and possibly gang related.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the victims and determine the causes and manners of their deaths.
Shortly before learning of the man’s death, Minneapolis Police say the U.S. Marshals North Star Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of an FBI SWAT team, served an arrest warrant on the suspected gunman.
He’s identified as 34-year-old James Duane Ortley. Law enforcement served the warrant around 3:30 Thursday afternoon in the 1600 block of South 4th Street.
Ortley was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of murder.
No arrests have been made in connection with a pair of fatal shootings that happened on Wednesday. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
