Montevideo, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in a small western-Minnesota town.

The body discovery happened around 6:30 Monday morning in Montevideo. The case is being described as a suspicious death investigation in the town of just under 5,300 people. 

A statement released Monday by the Montevideo Police Department says a postal worker discovered the body around 6:30 a.m. Monday. The body was found in a grassy area near the town’s post office. 

Officials say the deceased, described as an adult male, had a stab wound. Authorities plan to release the man’s name once his identity has been confirmed and his family has been notified.  

The statement says the investigation is in its early stages and that the BCA is assisting with the investigation. Officials say there is no known danger to the public.
